Remote Tutoring

Our SLT  supported volunteers to practice speech and language therapy targets with children. Children received support with home-schooling as well as boosts to core numeracy, literacy and science skills. Each child received a weekly activity pack containing educational resources, arts n crafts, healthy snacks feedback forms and incentive toys. Parents/guardians had the option to sign up their child for a remote buddy  to befriend their child and give them a listening ear.

Healthy Food Distribution

Fruit and activity packs were delivered to 65 SEND children living in Haringey twice weekly until the lockdown was lifted. Since all these children are from disadvantaged families who under normal circumstances depend on school meals, they were affected by food poverty. While some local charities had stepped to plate to provide basic meals/resources, a woman shared: 'it’s been a month since they had an apple to divide for family.'

Educational Activity Packs

Children with SEND needs thrive on structure and were hit extremely hard when school and afterschool services closed. They were distressed and frustrated and mostly unable to entertain themselves independently by reading or playing as they required 1-1 support. Academic stagnation for these children didn't only mean that they are learning less; but caused severe regression in functional development. The dissemination of educational activity packs to users helped combat this issue.
